Travelling Science Presenter

We are looking for a dynamic science presenter to join our team in delivering science outreach workshops to high school students across Australia.

Our workshops are mock crime scenes where students are introduced to a case and with your assistance, students work to ‘solve the crime’. The program aims to introduce students to how science can be used in the real world as well as the broader goal of making students aware of the science all around them while making science fun!

The workshops run during school hours, so you often have the afternoon free. You will be trained on delivering the program at our office and be supported initially in schools. Following this, you will work autonomously to deliver these workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Presenting forensic science workshops to groups of 30-60 high school students
  • Liaise with the teachers of pre-booked schools to arrange session times
  • Setting up and packing down the presentation equipment each day
  • Planning and organising your own travel arrangements visiting schools during the year
  • Travelling throughout Australia for months at a time.

Required skills

  • Science, education, or communication background
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Clear and engaging presentation style
  • Demonstrated organisational skills
  • Energetic, self-motivated with a proven ability to self-manage and work independently
  • Driver’s license and reliable car
  • The successful candidate will need to obtain an ACN and undergo a working with children check

What we offer

  • Being part of the largest Australian-based international science outreach program!
  • Exciting work involving travel
  • Autonomous work
